Exactly this.
Let's remember that OP also has a thread titled with the following title:
"GGG need to make manifesto about getting rid of zoomers/casuals or tuning to poe 1 pace"
The slow pacers that want the game to be bricked are actually a tiny but by extremely far the loudest part of the community.

Why do you want two PoE1 games?

I don't. In fact I haven't touched POE1 since 2018.
I just don't want my mobility/movement speed to be bricked like they had in 0.4

Then what do you want done different in PoE2 from PoE1? Why not play PoE1, what don't you like about it?

Inferior gem system, no WASD.
There's absolutely no need to brick movement speed on boots or bricking teleport unless you want the player to feel miserable walking through poor designed pathing large maps.
They can reduce pack size, you can play all the combo you want I don't give a damn if they do that if that's somehow what people want to see.
Just stop bricking movement speed and ruining itemization in general.

So adding WASD and moving gem socketing from items to a special menu in PoE1 would make it what you want PoE2 to be?

It's part of the problem with having a pawl + ratchet mechanism of game development for live service games that also have an intermittent reward loop design.
You continuously offer increased rewards, loot, and power in a game that doles these things out in an intermittent manner to attract players back league after league and 20 leagues later what you've done is cultivated a player base which is mostly composed of people who play not because they enjoy the process of discovering or mastering systems within the game, but because they enjoy the intermittent manner in which they acquire rewards, loot, and power.
It's closely associated with addiction and other forms of physiological dysregulation, so this majority portion of the playerbase is also prone to irritability, anxiety, and other symptoms of emotional dysregulation potentially including withdrawal symptoms.
Of course, this doesn't apply to EVERY player, but it is very common, and it's why it seems like there are many people who play this game who do not even really like this game. They can have 1000s of hours and will have a negative opinion on the game. Yet they won't stop playing it. There's a reason for this kind of dissonance.
A large part of the playerbase will always advocate and desire for further live service updates to increase rewards, loot, and power - in an continuous and insatiable manner, and they will always be the loudest because they are prone to being so. Some of the less self-aware players will even be confused as to why there's any friction in the game at all, because they view anything that isn't loot, power, or rewards only as something they are forced to tolerate.
I think the developers caught on to this too late with PoE1, the horse had already left the barn and going back would essentially create a scenario where they end up abandoning the majority of their cultivated playerbase.
I'm hoping they are a bit more aware of this aspect for further PoE2 updates but if you've ever wondered why it seems like most PoE1 players don't end up liking PoE2, just imagine how an addict might respond when they go for a hit and find out it's not as potent as they're used to. You're not likely to get a positive response, in fact, you're even more likely to get a hostile response lol.
I thought what you wrote was really interesting
You mentioned power and reward acquisition being intermittent, and i think this is part of the problem, this basically just means constant gambling
A lot of people say that poe 2 is too easy now, and i think the reason for that is that if you have a good weapon and a good amount of movement speed, you can trivialize all content in the game
You can have access to these things with deterministic crafting but that's kind of expensive. The easiest and cheapest way to make you character stronger is by trading, but that doesn't feel very rewarding, and it can lead the player to believe that good gear isn't something to aspire for, but an obstacle that's preventing your character from finally feeling "good" to play
A lot of people say that poe 2 is too dependent on gear and mods like +skills, and that the skill tree and ascendancy aren't really that exciting or strong
In poe 2 gearing feels like a rollercoaster, you drop a T5 item, you get excited, but in the end the mods are just light radius and accuracy for example. Gearing usually swings between huge highs and lows, there're very few moments where it feels like a steady progress, and i think that leads to the negative emotions you mentioned before
