Simultaneously hyped but will absolutely skip this league if there's no melee class
" Releasing piddly daggers and their tiny widdle stabby-stab skills will probably take about as long as the Talisman skills to release because they'll have to get the animations right for when people do that measly little dagger poke and immediately shapeshift into a sad loser who wishes they had a much cooler AXE. jk jk I like all the weapons. I just like axes more. Also claws in PoE2? I thought this was a no-go. Who am I to say anything, I don't respect my time either.

" Yup. https://poe2db.tw/us/Claws "Beidat honored the pact, though Beardat wouldn't take off Doryani’s prototype."

But how you are imagining melee class in PoE? While other classes insta-clearing screens, melee will run from one monster to another and kill them one by one? It will never work.

" *Dash/Leap/Teleport You use Herald or an AoE ability to clear the screen as usual. Ex. of my self-made off-meta Chonk melee build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKP_nsKcAXc |

" But if you kill enemies from afar, you are playing a ranged class. If you don't want to kill them with melee attacks, why you need a melee class? " Just imagine that you are holding daggers instead of stave and you got a completely new class! It will feel the same anyway, just the colour of explosions might be slightly different. Well maybe they will add new dash animation for a new class. But do we need new dash animation that badly? My point is, you only agreed with me that we can't even imaging actual melee class here. Probably it will never happen. Last edited by Suchka_777#4336 on Apr 8, 2026, 1:46:02 AM

" I mean, Werewolf already feels like a Qstaff abilities tbh, but worse imo. You are not wrong, but not 100% right neither. I'd say melee goes in deep to explode from the inside. While rangeds are clearing from aside. How different from each other are Ranged abilities and mechanics? It is all based on same stats that scale. And you kill from afar, with any of those abilities, then why we need so many of those? Just spark and LArrow would be enough, right? We can go and simplify your approach even more - If you kill enemies by pushing buttons on your keyboard, it doesn't matter what build you're playing, why do you need a ranged/melee class? Your point is pointless. People enjoy more than the gameplay alone. There's archetype, a theme and more to it. PS. I can imagine like 10 different melee class systems that'd feel unique and fun, because I played more than ARPG games in my life. ARPG scene seems to be pretty hermetic and similar to each other, whilst there are games which present approach to basic stuff you never seen before. " Sure, but imho it would be much more interesting if gameplay would be drastically different for each class. Many games are achieving it and offer very distinct gameplay for each class. PoE seems to completely fail in achieving it, even though PoE 2 was supposed to introduce actual gameplay to PoE players. But well, they just don't need it I guess. The reason PoE will probably never have different classes is because they already have a perfect class — insta-clearing screens class, and anything which will deviate from it will feel weak and useless in comparison with this class. " I 100% agree with the 1st part. For the second part, well... I'll stick around till all classes are released to see. If melee is either bad like Maces, boring like Bear, Feels the same like Qstaff/WWolf or is weird and suboptimal like Spear i'll search for a new game. So far I am pretty proud of my Chonk Last edited by Evergrey#7535 on Apr 8, 2026, 2:11:45 AM
