I disagree with this and the reason is when 0.1 first started it was hard for about a week right up to the point someone figured out that using Pillar of the cage god and greymake helm along with Tempest Flurry and stacking of heralds made you almost imortal. The 0.1 campaign was no more difficult that it is now. And most of the players were using that skill.

It was never been difficult. Maybe for the mace users haha. The campaign has been solved in less than a week, also Cruel difficulty was always been a braindead cruising. So I dont what people are asking for. For something that never existed in the first place. Or they watched too much of Talkative Tri videos.
