Odd AMD GPU driver issue
|
Since this league the GPU drivers on my end tend to die during gameplay every now and then. Notably only in Mirages -- if initially crazy mutch is going on. Now, since the driver gets started back up and the game rendering engine manages to reestablish connection toward the newly initialized drivers and gets the rendering going again (pretty cool feature by the way; if something like this happens on other games the game usually simply poofs out), this normally isn't a big deal to me.
Though for one ignoring the issue doesn't solve it and second I just had an mutch worse case of this issue (not inside a mirage; Citadel Nightmare map this time). This was the first time the driver were poofing out outside of Mirages and like I said it was mutch worse/non-recouperable. The game engine could not reconnect to the newly initialized driver and seems to have fallen back to instead use the graphics unit of my CPU. Or maybe it was even only rendered solely by the CPU without any and all graphics accelerated support. Either way the result was ... surprising, to say the least. I ended up with PoE rendering in Diablo II graphics style. Not kidding! While it was kind of cool (can we get a post-process filter to apply as an graphics option -- but without all the negative side effects??) it was horrendously laggy (not regarding network mind you). With a restart of the game it was all back to normal, as expected. But back inside the map it happened again once I got close to the region where it previously happened. Next restart. Now, I checked wheter it was tied to something in that region. Supposedly it was. As long as I avoided that region everything went normal. After I finished the remaining map I returned to that spot and: it happened again, immediately. Whatever it was, map is gone and I have no clue what it was/what might have caused this. As for technical specs: OS : Win11 GPU: Gigabyte RX 7900 XTX 24GB CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D RAM: 64GB GPU driver version: 26.3.1 (newest version as of now) Chipset drivers, aswell as BIOS are updated to the latest available versions. As for graphics options: I use the DX12 rendering in borderless window mode. Last bumped on Apr 11, 2026, 9:20:17 AM

Oh, that's just the game's Dynamic Resolution setting dragging it down to, like, 720p or 360p.
