Too stupid to understand recombination... Please dumb it down for me.

I have this chest. It was made with recombinators some time ago. I don't remember how it was done or even if I did it myself or bought it.



I want to make a similar chest, but I cannot figure out how to get the Guatelitzi's and Chosen life mods onto the same chest piece. I have read guides on recombination before. I still don't get it. Can someone dumb it down for me?
