Problems about using Window Fullscreen
|
Dear GGG Support Team,
I am writing to report a persistent issue regarding display settings in Path of Exile. Currently, I am unable to modify the resolution while running the game in Windowed Fullscreen mode. The resolution dropdown menu is greyed out and unresponsive. I have already attempted the following troubleshooting steps without success: 1. The Switch Method: Toggling between Windowed, Fullscreen, and Windowed ullscreen using Alt + Enter and the in-game menu. 2. Manual .ini Edits: Manually changing the resolution_width and resolution_height values within the production_Config.ini file. Despite saving these changes, the game reverts to my native desktop resolution upon launch. My goal is to run the game in a borderless environment but at a lower resolution than my native monitor settings to improve performance. Is there a known workaround or a specific command line argument that can force a resolution override in this mode? System Specifications: OS: Windows 11 GPU: 1660 super Native Resolution: [3840x2160] Desired Resolution: [1920x1080] Thank you for your time and assistance. Last bumped on Apr 8, 2026, 3:46:40 AM

This is technically not possible.
Windowed Fullscreen means the game does not take full control over the monitor, the client is displayed in a regular window with WS_CAPTION and WS_THICKFRAME styles removed. " Set "renderer resolution" to lower value. This is the thing you actually want to achieve. |

Maybe i am not clarrified.
I am thinking window boarderless and this is achievable when i am playing other games. E.g. Monster Hunter Wilds. The main problem is unlike other games. You need to swicth tabs very frequently compare to other games. Is there a way to work on somehting call a window boarderless but run on 1920 on a 4k monitor ? |

There are three display modes available for the client "Windowed" "Fullscreen" and "Windowed Fullscreen".
The "Windowed Fullscreen" mode can technically be called "borderless window". If you want to reduce the resource consumption of the client while still being able to switch between windows frequently then you'd have to run the client in "Windowed Fullscreen" mode and set the "Renderer Resolution" to 1920x1080 (or lower). This is the way. |

Do not run your system on 4k native with that card.
The effect you want is achieved by lowering your desktop res to 1080p. Last edited by AlvinL_#4492 on Apr 8, 2026, 3:48:37 AM
