The "Infinite Atlas" has a fundamental problem
|
My main issue with the infinite atlas is that every screen looks almost the same, which makes it feel aimless, and it's also easy to get lost.
We really need a sense of direction on the map, such as adding more clear goals or make biomes more meaningful. It is also extremely tedious to navigate, bookmarks feel more like a bandaid solution. Last edited by Foozenberg#2833 on Mar 23, 2026, 8:19:26 PM Last bumped on Apr 8, 2026, 6:16:19 PM

Then maybe we can make it finite.
Some Older Maps can be re-access with a specific tablets. To avoid abuse, maybe we can "Corrupt" a tower to reroll the surrounding map mods, and being allowed to re-enter. This will make mapping more precious, because you will not want to waste your first time clear on every maps, especially those unique ones. All your steps requires a spare thought and proper planning. Seems great. Last edited by Exilion99#5481 on Feb 10, 2026, 6:28:15 PM

The Atlas is complete garbage.
The more of it you do, the more of a confusing mess it becomes. Why do I need to see all this stuff I've already done? I don't care about it anymore. But it makes up the majority of what you see. |

main issue of "endgame" that rewards barelly scale so it feels like another act for like 100 hours but challenge skyrockets for no reason

Atlas sound like a good idea on paper at first but its NOT.
The longer you play the more time you waste scrolling through it. And the sensation of discovery is absolute minimal! Its not you would have any sorts or sense of progression traversing through the atlas. You should be able to play favoured map layouts, at least you should be able to have a search function for certain maps. And defintely you should able to reset it from time to time, because it just gets bloated. 16 bookmarks limit is a huge issue. It should be doubled especially when you zoom through the atlas to gain cristals for your temple. I can fill up all positions with citadels, no space for corruptions etc

It surely is a gigantic mess of an Atlas. It's not just aimless, it's soulless. It makes Wraeclast feel more like a simulation than a distinguished landmass.
I did post a rather in-depth Atlas suggestion recently. You're welcome to check it out: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3865758 |

" As my atlas grows, previously discovered parts get covered in fog of war again, rendering all of my old bookmarks nearly useless. Hitting the home button and then panning endlessly through the fog to find the bookmarks has been the only workable solution for me. So, sure, I'd love to have more than 16 bookmarks too -- but please GGG keep the areas around the bookmarks loaded. It can't be that hard, can it? |

" I have been complaining about this since .2. I still jump over to standard every now and then to test builds or when I just want to break from league and play with some legacy gear. My atlas on standard is absolutely HORRBILE because it's so big. You can try for 30 minutes to get a bookmark uncovered from fog and, sometimes, still cannot uncover. I have made the suggestion that they let you do an atlas reset after completing XXX number of maps but nothing ever happened. |
